Mr
Tan started Taekwon-Do
in 1974 in Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia
under the banner of
International Taekwon-Do Academy (ITA) which was launched and headed by
Master
Low Koon Lin. He started Taekwon-Do training under the Eurasion Club. Kuala Lumpur. He
obtained
his 1st Dan Black Belt in 1979 and ever since has been an assistant
instructor.
A year later, he established his own training classes and started
teaching
private classes too. He became a 2nd Dan Instructor on the following
year and
continuously promotes Taekwon-Do by training more private classes. He
was the
instructor for Imbi Road Rukun Tetangga, Ulu Kelang Recreation Club
(UKRC), MCA
Ampang and some schools ie, Sekolah Menengah Aminuddin Baki, Sekolah
Menengah
Damansara Utama, Nan
Kai Chinese School
and International
School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL).
In the midst of establishing all those classes, he also took part in
many of
the Taekwon-Do championships; state, nation and international level.
During
those periods, his achievements include the followings :
Ever since he left for overseas, he continued to promote Taekwon-Do as
a
martial art, especially when he was in Germany
and in Belgium.
In 2001, he founded Universal Taekwon-Do Academy (UTA).
Currently, he is promoting the martial art
that he has developed, the “Free-Style Martial-Arts And Self-Defence”
(FMS). He stays back in Malaysia
because he believes in
contributing his service and knowledge back to the community of his
birth
place.
